The "Golden Triangle" is the classic first-time route through North India — the capital, the Taj Mahal, and Rajasthan's royal Pink City, roughly triangular on a map and well connected by road and rail.
Done well, it's not three separate city tours bolted together. It's one itinerary, planned so each city gets the right amount of time and the transfers between them don't eat your trip.
A typical sequence
- 1Delhi (1.5–2 days) — Old Delhi's lanes, New Delhi's colonial-era landmarks, and orientation for the rest of the trip.
- 2Agra (1–2 days) — the Taj Mahal, ideally at sunrise, plus Agra Fort.
- 3Jaipur (2 days) — Amber Fort, City Palace, Hawa Mahal, and the Pink City's bazaars.
- 4Return to Delhi or onward to your next destination.

Six to seven days is comfortable without feeling rushed. Four days is possible but tight — expect long driving days and less breathing room in each city.
Yes — both are common additions. Udaipur extends the Rajasthan leg by 2 days; a Ranthambore safari adds roughly 1–2 days between Jaipur and Delhi or after Jaipur.
It's a full itinerary, but it's built to avoid the worst offender — long same-day round trips. Overnight stays in each city instead of day-tripping make the pace far more comfortable.
